Cherry Vanilla Simple Syrup

This recipe was inspired by my sister in-law, who greatly appreciates cherry vanilla coke. This has 1/4 or less of the sugar of that coke, and it's just as good. All you need is this syrup, and a sodastream which you can find here. You can also use the syrup for shaved ice. Let's get started:

What You'll Need:

A pot

A lid for the pot

A wooden spoon

A colander

A container

Ingredients:

1 cup water

1 cup sugar

1 cup mashed cherries, pitted (frozen cherries work just fine)

1 tbsp. vanilla extract

Instructions:

Step 1: Put the water and the sugar in the pot and turn your burner to medium. Stir the sugar until it's dissolved.

Step 2: Put the cherries in the pot and bring the syrup to a boil.

Step 3: Turn your burner to low and put the lid on the pot. Simmer for 15 minutes.

Step 4: Take the pot off the heat and let sit for 1-2 hours.

Step 5: Pour the syrup through the colander into your desired container.

Step 6: Use a 1/4 cup of syrup in a sodastream or blend with ice for shaved ice.

Step 7: Enjoy!
